Created for Soul Focus, this custom race medal celebrates the strength, movement, and connection at the heart of the SFRC Women’s Trail Half Marathon, presented by The North Face.

This project held a particularly personal connection for me. Having lived and trained in the Marin Headlands for over four years, the landscape surrounding this race is one I know not only as an artist, but as a runner. The trails, hills, wildflowers, changing light, and feeling of being surrounded by nature have become a meaningful part of my own experience as an athlete. Bringing those memories and experiences into the design made the project feel incredibly close to home.

I wanted the medal to capture more than simply the distance of 13.1 miles. The winding trail, organic shapes, and wildflower-inspired details reflect the feeling of moving through the landscape — the climbs, the rhythm of the trail, and those small moments of connection with the environment that make trail running so special.

My illustration style allowed me to translate that sense of place through bold shapes, layered textures, and hand-drawn details, creating something that feels playful and tactile while still being rooted in the natural character of the Marin Headlands.
